Oh,
I am feeling so happy. I am going back to my hometown for the Holi vacation. I cannot decipher why I love my familiar surroundings so much that i am willing to sacrifice the salary that I get over here in Delhi. Okay, letz not complicate this matter. This disease is of homesickness, worsened by service phobia. i am looking forward to my short innings in my hometown. It might become larger and larger in future depending on my boiling point. As of now, my spirit is to say no to forced migration. The greener pastures are always going to be there. But, I am longing to fight the inner demons and I feel that even money will not empower me to do that. Reason enough to take a sabbatical or maybe become a full-time monker. Never thought of it in my childhood, but I seriouly seems to be in the grip of mid-life crisis. Just wanted to spread the message that the effort to be outstanding always made to me stand out in the class in the school days. Now, I want to explore the heights of mediocrity. I want to be the last in terms of any achievement. My idol has changed. Earlier, there were many like Maradona, Tendulkar, Hitler, Martina Navratilova, Lendl, Mahtma Gandhi, Christina Aguilera, Vir sanghvi and many many more. Now, I idolise Rip Van Winkle. With due apologies to all and sundry.
Talking about the upcoming Holi, it is different the ones played in metros. We can play with cowdungs and the clothes are meant to be torn. You will be excused if you lie in a 'Nali' deaddrunk or overpowered by bhangs. Take care if someone offers tou a laddu provided you youself are game for it. Being an upcoming town, it is a great pleasure to play colours with girls. It provides a freedom to interact with more intimacy. Mind you, it has limitations though:)
In our area, Holi is enjoyed more by the economically weaker sections vis-v-vis Diwali. Maybe, because colours are cheaper than crackers. Maybe, also because there is an excuse or practice of going for bhang, instead of the mandate of expensive liquor in Diwali. Whatever, in our areas you enjoy Holi the most if you lower the bar.:)
There is a section that hates colours and stays away. And the elite ones who come on vacation sometimes find it irritating.
My dear friends,I will write later.
